Values and Functions

In a classification, wetlands are regarded as the most valuable natural ecosystem on Earth. Studies suggest that the economic value of each hectare of wetland sometimes reaches billions of dollars, and this value continuously provides services to users. Values and functions of Solduz Wetland can be classified into three groups: economic, ecological and cultural.

Tourism

An outstanding potential for development of the tourism industry
The landscape and the aesthetic value for attracting tourism and ecotourism

Socio-economic

Existence of appropriate capacity for job creation (handicrafts) of local communities
Utilization of wetland aquatic animals
Utilization of reeds around the wetland

It has valuable and important habitats for the protection and maintenance of various populations of wildlife, especially birds

Agriculture and Animal Husbandry

Grazing of local livestock along the wetland (buffalo, etc.)

Preventing the salinization of agricultural land
Purification and absorption of pollutants

Educational and research

It has sufficient capacity and potential to carry out research and educational projects
Existence of a place and site available for research of universities and higher education institutions
Having a suitable site for educating all age groups and local indigenous people
